Status for the upcoming Microsoft Flight Simulator
Without advance insight into the release, it is not possible to comment on how – and if – EditVoicepack XL will support the new Flight Simulator. The following scenarios are likely:

  1. Changes to the ATC speech engine prevents EditVoicepack XL from operating and no support will be added.
  2. Microsoft Flight Simulator will use the same speech package as FSX and P3D. In this case support can be being added with minimal development effort already covered by existing licenses for FSX and P3D.
  3. Flight Simulator will use a similar approach as FSX and P3D but with updated data files. If this is the case, substantial development effort is required and the most likely outcome is a separate license for EditVoicepack being required – with discounts for users already having an EditVoicepack XL license.

Please do not purchase EditVoicepack XL at this stage if support for the new Microsoft Flight Simulator is a deciding factor in your purchase – wait for updated information.

Supported flight simulators:

  • Microsoft Flight Simulator X – Original DVD Release
    • Japanese versions of Microsoft Flight Simulator X are not supported.
