Still using FS2004 with EVP 3.1.1750.19464, how do I change “flight following” to “zone transit”?
Yes – adding the markers is quite easy, but it’s easy to make a type or something 🙂
Not sure about how to add markers. Can do it with the XL version but not the FS2004 version. There is a blank box called “Marker:” but it’s not obvious how to use it. So, having successfully changed to “zone transit” as per instructions, all I can get is a readout of the phrase exactly as it appears on the screen with no keywords.
I no longer have a computer with FS9, but can’t you right-click the wave file just over the text box with the label “marker”? As far as I remember it should open a context menu allowing you to add a new marker.
First I recommend you follow the tutorial for creating an airline callsign if you never created a modification in EditVoicepack before. They are a bit simpler. You can use the EditVoicepack XL tutorial. It will just look a bit different, but works the same way. Once you are confident you can get a modification working and understand how it is build up, you can move to the phraseology which are a tad more complicated.
You will have to expand the “My Modifications/Phraseology branch” and create a new modification in there.
Use the search filter on the right and type “flight following”. This will show you the ATC recordings with the text flight following in the phrase.
You now need to use the identifier of the recording you found in the identifier of your new modification. You must also set the variant if applicable (I believe it will be appended in brackets or something like it – if none is displayed, keep it at 0). Then set the checkbox in the upper right (again, no idea what label I used in the old EditVoicepack). This checkbox will instruct EditVoicepack to override the default FS recording instead of simply adding a new next to it.
Copy the phrase over as well, but change “flight following” to “zone transit”. For each voice, build op the new text to match the phrase as displayed in the tutorial for creating new airline callsigns. Finally, if the phrase contains keywords (something like “{keyword}”, you must add a marker by right clicking the control displaying the wave file you assembled and add the marker. The red circle shows where to right click (the screenshot is from EditVoicepack XL, so it will look a bit different, but the elements should be easy to identify):
Use the same text in the marker as is used in the keyword of the phrase.
This must be done for each voice, as they will all need the marker in slightly different locations
I recommend you expand the “Community Modifications/Phraseology” and have a look. They are all read-only so you can’t modify them, but you can see how the markers match the keywords in the phrase.
It is approximately half as difficult as it looks based on my explanation. 🙂
Thanks Lars for the quick response, adding callsigns takes me about 5 minutes, looks like this will take a bit longer!
