Hi Lars,
As per subject title and as you already know, there is recorded dummy conversation heard between time ATC gaps.
This is a long time heritage since FS8 era and continues still today with P3Dv5.
So, I wonder if you could do something to eliminate it, as it is annoying especially during long flights.
Best regards
Sotiris Stavrakis
I am not fully aware of what you refer to with dummy conversation:
Is it one of the following:
- The background sound playing when ATC is speaking (pilots have engine noise in the background instead). If so EditVoicepack can’t remove it as is – but it might be possible to add as a new feature.
- The communication with other planes? The only way I know to remove this is to set AI traffic percentage to 0. With no other planes in the air, the controllers should be quiet unless talking to you.
I have to approve comments before they are visibile. Yes, stupid, but I did not find an easy way to change it. And as fighting configuration is the one thing I hate the most about my dayjob, continuing it on this site is… well. no thanks. 🙂
There is not supposed to be any audio loop after ATC transmissions. There is supposed to be a background sound doing the transmissions (engine for pilots, the “controller recording” for ATC). The only time I have heard the controller background sound loop continuing was when the small silent loop to suppress the “vacate runway when able” (or whatever it is, haven’t heard it for over a decade) was really short. I made it a bit longer and the problem went away.
If you have it starting after each ATC transmission, then you have a problem I do not rcall having dealt with, and I have no idea how to fix it. If we talked about it before, I was under the impression the problem was it was too laud, not that it kept going (I recall I have discussed this with a few people before). Do you also have this problem with “stock” ATC; or is it only with EditVoicepack?
Lars,
Not sure if you did quite understand what is the case. This has nothing to do with any Editvoicepack problem.
This is a native real-life conversation between pilots or pilots with a real AT controller of all sims from FS8 up to P3D.
Let’s say, I myself, as user plane pilot, talk to ATC and get the reply from it. If there is no other traffic around, some seconds later that conversation begins to sound. It’s a completely useless feature of sim. Maybe the authors of MS wanted to fill the silent sound gap, after the ATC becomes silent.
What I queried was that maybe there is a way to eliminate it using Editvoicepack.
That’s all.
Correct, I do not understand it… as I have never heard what you describe here. Can you find a youtube video showing this (if you can’t link here, just post the title, channel name and timestamp – then I can find it)?
OK, if I record that sample, where can I upload it for you to get it ?
Lars,
When the user plane talks to ATC, this doesn’t sound. As soon as any dialog stops, that recorded conversation (always the same sample) kicks in.
We talked about it many years ago and you told me at the time that you might do something about it.
I am not talking about your quote #2.
Hope I helped you understand what I am talking about.
