Problems installing, uninstalling or running EditVoicepack

If you can’t install, uninstall, or running EditVoicepack XL please try the following steps.

  1. Ensure you are using the latest version of EditVoicepack available here.
    • If it is uninstall of an older version of EditVoicepack that is failing, try installing the latest version without uninstalling first. Then reboot the computer and try uninstalling again.
  2. Disable MSI Afterburner if you have it.
    • Installation errors and crashes when starting EditVoicepack have been observed with MSI Afterburner enabled.
  3. Check your antivirus product is not flagging EditVoicepack. If it is:
    1. Locate your anti-virus vendors web page allowing you to submit a potential false positive file. You can use Google to locate this page. If you for example use Avast you can search for:
      Avast false positive
    2. Upload your EditVoicepack installer file.
    3. Wait for feedback from the anti-virus vendor.
      • If they report the file does contain a Trojan or virus, please contact support@editvoicepack.com.
      • If they report the file is “clean”, you typically have to wait a few hours/days until they distribute the next virus signature files where the false alarm is corrected.
  4. Check Windows system files.
Microsoft provides a tool to check and repair problems with Windows system files. For instructions on how to run this tool, please refer to the Microsoft support topic: Use the System File Checker tool to repair missing or corrupted system files.
  5. Try following the instructions here: Restoring your flight simulators original ATC voice files.
    • If you do not have a file with the extension “.evpOrg” in the indicated location continue with the step below in this list – do not delete any files from your flight simulator installations.
  6. Fix installation/uninstallation problems.
Microsoft have created an utility that can fix a number of problems related to installation or uninstallation of programs.
