voicepack can’t access flight sim

I have Fs9 installed on my D drive which has Windows XP as an operating system.

D drive is my archive/Fs9 drive.

My main running system is Window 7 on my C drive.

Editvoice pack is currently on the C drive,it has also been on the D drive in the programme files,

but it cannot update the airlines cfg. or the voicepack itself.

This is the error I get:

When I attempt to save any updates I get this error message:

Unable to save: Access to the path ‘C:Program FilesBevelstone ProductionEditVoicepack|EditVoicpackData.xml’

EditVoicepack 3.1 predates Vista where Microsoft (finally) introduced enhanced security – so it assumes access to locations that are now protected.

Please start it by right clicking and select “Run as administrator”.

Lars,it seems that your answer has partly sorted things out. I read on another forum that it needs to be run as an administrator,so I changed my computer account from a “standard user to an “administrator and also to turn off “User Account Control(this is in Windows 7),then to restart to effect the changes.

This I did then “repaired” Evp.
I retarted Evp,it then allowed me to update the “airlines cfg. and update and save,so things seem to be sorted out.

I strongly recommend reenabling UAC. as you have lovered the security of your system substantially. Only really old applications (like the old EditVoicepack) have problems running with UAC enabled, and you can simply start them with the right click Run as administrator. You can even set compatibility mode (I recommend googling how to do it, there are plenty of step for step instructions) for affected applications so they will always start as administrator. Sure, it is you own call, but I do not want anyone reading this to believe they have to turn off essential security for their entire system for EditVoicepack to run.
